Chinese New Year Lantern Festival

The Festival is organised by the peak Chinese-Australian business and cultural body, ACETCA (Australia China Economics Trade and Cultural Association) and presented by Nan Hai Culture & Media (Australia) Group Pty Ltd, the nation’s leading Chinese language media and cultural promotion group.  The Festival is proudly supported by City of Sydney and Property NSW.

The previous festivals have been officially launched by the Prime Minister of Australia, a gala event attended by senior representatives from all sides of federal and state politics as well as the City of Sydney. Top representatives of China’s business and cultural community host this launch event which heralds the lighting of thousands of individual lights across Darling Harbour’s Tumbalong Park.

The Chinese New Year Lantern Festival has established itself as one of the premiere events for engagement with both the top levels of the Chinese business community as well as the wider cultural and Chinese speaking community across Sydney.

Australia China Economics, Trade & Culture Association (ACETCA) is an association initiated by Chinese in Australia in accordance with the mission statement of the association. It is a government registered non-profit trade and culture community entity. The main location of the association is in Harbour Plaza while branches of the association reach Beijing, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macau.

In recent years, the friendship between Australia and China is hugely enhanced. A large number of Chinese people, especially successful entrepreneurs from China, immigrate to and establish their business in Australia. Under this social trend, the establishment of a solid community association seems to be extremely significant.
